The Beer Bitch

Our marshmallows did not turn out. They were a sticky goopy mess. And then I broke the pan they were in. The caramels I made the other day were too hard. But, on the bright side, the toffee I made was delicious. I think candy making may not be my calling in life.

And, in the future, I will try not to drunk blog. Those pictures from yesterday were terrible.

But I have something that’s not terrible.

I wanted to tell you about the bacon wrapped Pâté de Campagne we made the other day. It’s delicious. And it’s wrapped in bacon. Behold:

This is something you should all make. The recipe is conveniently found in this month’s Bon Apetit. I don’t see it online yet, but it should be on Epicurious soon.

I’ve been making candy this afternoon because I have the day off. I think it’s the first day off in two weeks. So here’s what we’ve been up to:

Homemade marshmallows.

Dark chocolate and fleur de sel almond toffee.

And snacks…

Nom nom nom. These cheese and crackers are pretty good.

I’m pretty sick today, and the pile of kleenex is growing on the table next to me, so I’m going to be back soon, but maybe not with much substance for a bit.
